OAK BROOK, Ill– October 27, 2016 - The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Research & Education (R&E) Foundation had awarded the 2016 Carestream Health/RSNA Research Scholar Grant to Rajni Natesan, M.D., M.B.A. This grant is made possible by Carestream Health’s support of the RSNA R&E Foundation.

The Carestream Health/RSNA Research Scholar Grant is designed for emerging leaders in radiology research. This career development award develops young faculty into independent investigators and prepares them for NIH funding. The grant award is $75,000 per year for a two-year study.

Rajni Natesan, M.D., M.B.A., University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, will investigate the impact of changes to the 2015 American Cancer Society and 2016 United States Preventive Services Task Force Breast Cancer Screening Guidelines on screening mammography utilization and the rate of screen-detected breast cancer. This study will longitudinally examine utilization rates of screening mammography, and relate this data with screen-detected cancer rates, histology, and grade. The goal of this study is to improve understanding of the drivers of health disparities in breast care, as well as guide future policy and targeted solutions to eliminate these disparities.
