Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children Installs CARESTREAM DRX Systems to Enhance Image Quality, Help Reduce Dose

Radiology Director Believes “Carestream Excels in Wireless DR In-Room and Portable Imaging Systems”

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 1 — Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (Dallas, Texas) recently installed two CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution DR Rooms and one CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray System to help enable enhanced image quality and reduced dose for its pediatric patients.

“Carestream’s DRX systems enable us to improve image quality, help reduce dose by 30-50 percent and achieve the same convenient positioning as a CR cassette. We are very confident about the level of diagnostic image quality we are now able to deliver to radiologists and physicians,” said Tina Reese, B.S., R.T.(R)(CT)(M), the hospital’s Director of Radiology. “The ability to lower dose is especially important for our patients because they often have conditions that require frequent X-ray exams.”

The DRX-Evolution systems perform about 2,000 images a month at the 100-bed pediatric hospital and are used for a variety of imaging studies. “This system offers an exceptional design, has a small footprint, easily accommodates children in wheelchairs and offers a rail-based option that helps our staff perform cross-table exams,” Reese reports.

Technologists use the DRX-Revolution system for post-operative and bedside portable inpatient exams. “We selected the DRX-Revolution because of its image quality, ease of use, maneuverability and the improved visibility offered by the collapsible column,” she notes. “I believe Carestream excels in wireless DR room-based and portable imaging systems.”

Reese added that the hospital has used CR systems from Carestream for years and the company’s reliable equipment and exceptional service are also important benefits.

The CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution DR Room is a versatile digital radiography system with configurable, modular components that can be combined to fit the space, workflow and budget requirements of each health care facility. This system can perform a wide variety of general radiographic exams with convenience, productivity and patient comfort. DRX detectors can significantly lower X-ray exposure when compared to CR cassettes.

The CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray System is a versatile mobile X-ray system that features a small footprint, exceptional maneuverability, excellent image quality and wireless communication of medical exams. This system’s easy-to-use interface can help improve staff productivity and the system’s tubehead monitor allows technologists to remain at the bedside during the imaging process.
