ONRAD Purchases Carestream’s Vue PACS, Vue Reporting and Vue Motion Image Viewer to Enhance Delivery of Radiology Services

New Technology Will Enable ONRAD Radiologists to Elevate Clinical and Service Support to Hospitals; Companies to Pursue Joint Marketing Initiatives

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 15 — ONRAD, Inc., a full service radiology services provider headquartered in Riverside, Calif., has purchased Carestream’s Vue PACS, Vue Reporting and  Vue Motion—a zero-footprint, vendor-neutral image viewer—which will enhance ONRAD’s ability to support a wide range of range of healthcare organizations.

ONRAD provides on-site radiology support, sub-specialty interpretations, after-hours teleradiology and RIS+PACS support, as well final and preliminary radiology reports. The company is a leading provider of around-the-clock radiology services at U.S. hospitals due to its expertise in delivering high-quality radiology interpretations to referrers and patients.

In addition, ONRAD and Carestream have established a strategic relationship to pursue joint marketing programs to support the needs of both company’s clients. This combined effort will not only showcase the productivity and efficiency improvements achievable with Carestream’s healthcare IT systems, but will highlight ONRAD's ability to support a broad range of radiology service solutions as well.

The advantages of ONRAD’s teleradiology solution utilizing Carestream’s Vue PACS, Vue Reporting and Vue Motion technology are significant, as the traditional way of offering off-site radiology services to healthcare providers requires significant integration costs and resources. Carestream is demonstrating at RSNA (as a work in progress) an innovative teleradiology module for its Vue PACS that will give remote radiologists access to prior exams and automatically send radiology reports to the requesting facility—all without requiring significant investment by healthcare facilities or radiology groups.

“ONRAD is excited about the new Carestream relationship. We believe this creates significant benefits, clinical as well as operational, to both our physicians as well as our diverse range of clients,” commented David Willcutts, CEO of ONRAD.

Carestream’s Vue PACS provides flexible, cost-effective image review, management, distribution and archiving. It delivers access to advanced 3D reading tools, an optional lesion management module, and viewing of all digital mammography modalities including FFDM, breast ultrasound, breast MRI and digital breast tomosynthesis on a single workstation platform. This can help eliminate the expense and inconvenience created by requiring radiologists to switch between multiple vendors’ workstations.

With Carestream’s Vue Reporting capabilities, radiologists no longer have to deal with multiple log-ons caused by the integration of multiple systems. Users also can cut report turnaround time from days to hours with Vue Reporting. Native voice recognition, RIS or PACS integration, single sign-on and structured, user-defined reports with embedded patient data combine to take the complexity and manual entry out of diagnostic reporting—all that is needed to complete an exam is a mouse and a microphone.

Carestream’s Vue Motion image viewer equips on-site and off-site physicians with Web-based access to radiology exams and reports. Convenient online access to images and reports makes it fast and easy for clinicians and referring physicians to review both imaging studies and reports as they are conducting patient rounds at the hospital, or from their offices or homes. The viewer is easy to use, the image quality is excellent and it supports viewing on workstations or mobile devices such as an iPad.

Carestream’s entire radiology product portfolio will be on display at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America that begins Dec. 1 in Chicago, Ill. For more information on Carestream’s medical imaging and IT solutions please visit www.carestream.com.
