Novation Adds Carestream’s Mobile X-ray System To Its Imaging Portfolio

Company’s ‘X-ray Room On Wheels’ Boosts Productivity, Helps Enhance Patient Care

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Jan. 29 — Carestream announced that Novation, one of the nation’s leading healthcare group purchasing organizations, has added Carestream’s new DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray System to its medical imaging product portfolio. The innovative DRX-Revolution imaging system was added to Novation’s existing agreement, which includes Carestream’s versatile family of DRX systems.

“The DRX-Revolution sets new standards for bedside imaging by providing superb image quality for physicians, comfortable patient positioning, safe and easy movement of the system from one area to another—and higher productivity for technologists,” said Doug Spotts, General Manager, U.S. & Canada Medical Sales, Carestream Health.

The DRX-Revolution produces high-quality bedside X-ray images in less than five seconds. Its extended tubehead and exceptional maneuverability enhance the quality of bedside images while simultaneously making the process more efficient. The unit’s collapsible column offers enhanced visibility to help technologists safely move the unit around bedside equipment and from one area to another. A unique software tool creates companion images from the original exposure: one image is optimized to show tubes and lines so physicians can verify placement, and another optimized image accentuates the appearance of free air in the chest cavity for easier visualization of the pneumothorax Images.

Images are displayed on the system’s console and transmitted via a wireless network to a PACS or other information system.

In addition to the DRX-Revolution, the Novation agreement includes the following Carestream radiology imaging systems: CARESTREAM DRX-1 System, CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution, CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kit and DRX-Ascend System.

All DRX imaging systems use the same software and graphic user interface, which helps improve productivity and allows technologists to proficiently use any system with minimal training. These systems also share the same wireless detector, which enables detectors to be moved from one system to another as needed for the ultimate in flexibility.
