ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 29 — Diagnostic Health (Hilton Head, S.C.), purchased CARESTREAM Vue RIS, CARESTREAM Vue Cloud PACS and CARESTREAM Vue Cloud Archive to serve its five multi-modality imaging centers in Texas and Pennsylvania. The company, which is owned and operated by SDI, Inc., evaluated five suppliers prior to selecting Carestream.
“We liked the advanced scheduling features and embedded voice dictation offered by the Vue RIS and we elected to use Carestream’s cloud-based PACS and archive services because it’s the perfect solution for our multi-site operation,” according to Diagnostic Health’s President Murat Caglayan.
“We didn’t start out looking for a cloud-based solution. But as we evaluated our options, it doesn’t make sense for us to continue to keep adding hardware and software in various locations and incurring the expense for purchasing, maintaining and managing this equipment,” he explained. “It’s much more efficient to use the cloud, which offers better management of our imaging workflow while also delivering archiving and disaster recovery. We expect to achieve 18 percent in cost savings by converting to a fee-per-study model.”
The company’s affiliated radiology group has specialists in neurology, mammography, orthopaedics and other fields who read for hospitals as well as imaging centers. One of Diagnostic Health’s greatest needs was to provide radiologists with an efficient reading workflow from any location, including their homes or offices.
“We selected Vue Cloud PACS because it can offer rapid access to images anytime, anywhere. Its powerful tools will equip our radiologists with automated comparison capabilities for current and prior 3D exams—and our radiologists immediately felt comfortable with its reading features and user interface,” he said.
As part of the installation, Carestream is going to integrate its PACS with EMR systems from Diagnostic Health’s 10 largest referral sources. “All our referring physicians will gain improved access to imaging studies and reports, and integrating these studies into various EMR systems will be a huge advantage for us,” he reported.
The Web-based Vue RIS streamlines reporting with auto-insertion of patient and exam information. Its worklist can automatically route exams to specific radiologists based on modality. It also can customize reporting and offer critical-results tracking and peer review.
Vue Cloud PACS provides radiologists, clinicians, and referring physicians with access to patient information and advanced reading tools from any location. This vendor-neutral infrastructure includes advanced security procedures and 24/7/365 monitoring by Carestream’s experienced IT experts.
Vue Cloud Archive offers vendor-neutral remote long-term storage, data protection and disaster recovery of clinical data such as DICOM images and XDS documents.
