MINNEAPOLIS, July 23 — At AHRA 2013, Carestream Health showed its new CARESTREAM DRX 2530C detector that offers high resolution, low dose X-ray exams for pediatric, orthopaedic and general radiology applications. The 25 cm x 30 cm detector recently received FDA clearance and is expected to begin shipping in the third quarter of 2013.

The DRX 2530C detector not only fits into an incubator tray, it can offer better patient care by providing exceptionally high-quality images at a low dose for premature babies and infants in the pediatric ICU,” said Helen Titus, Carestream’s Worldwide X-ray Solutions Marketing Director.
The cesium iodide detector offers high DQE (detective quantum efficiency) and lower X-ray exposure than CR cassettes or gadolinium scintillator detectors. The new detector’s small size and light weight is also ideal for orthopaedic and general radiography exams.
Like Carestream’s DRX-1 and DRX-1C detectors, the new DRX 2530C detector can be used with any member of the DRX family of in-room and mobile imaging systems. This flexibility is part of Carestream’s commitment to enhance productivity and maximize each healthcare provider’s investment in imaging technology.
Carestream also offers advanced image processing software that can enhance image quality for pediatric patients. The software delivers optimized image processing and exposure techniques for seven different pediatric weight/age categories to satisfy FDA guidelines for pediatric exams.
