St. Clair Hospital Purchases Carestream’s Cardiology PACS

Carestream’s Platform Supports Common Workflow and Shared Archive for Radiology and Cardiology Exams

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 2 — St. Clair Hospital (Mt. Lebanon, Penn.) purchased a flexible CARESTREAM Vue for Cardiology system that allows the hospital to consolidate multiple cardiology imaging modalities into one application with on-site or remote access. The hospital also extended its relationship with Carestream by upgrading its existing Carestream Vue RIS and Carestream Vue PACS and establishing a common Vue Archive for cardiology and radiology images.

“In the past, our cardiology and radiology services have operated on independent systems. Carestream’s innovative technology bridges the gap with Web-based platforms that enable reading of both applications from the same workstations and the ability to share a common archive,” said Richard Schaeffer, Vice President and CIO, St. Clair Hospital. “This approach not only reduces expenses it also offers a more efficient and convenient workflow that can help deliver faster reporting and enhance patient care.”

“Our ability to support a consolidated workflow for cardiology and general radiology exams boosts throughput and productivity while significantly reducing capital investment. Healthcare providers can also reduce data storage costs by using our on-site Vue Archive or Vue Cloud Archive pay-per-use service,” said Diana L. Nole, President, Digital Medical Solutions, Carestream Health.

Carestream’s Web-based cardiology PACS offers review of echocardiography, cardiac cath, ECG, and nuclear cardiology exams from any on-site or remote workstation. This streamlines reading and reporting for cardiology exams. Echocardiography reports are simplified through the use of structured templates, pre-populated measurements and a single package for all echo procedures.

Carestream’s Vue for Cardiology is available in the U.S., Canada, Italy, Netherlands, United Kingdom and Australia. The company’s Vue PACS is available worldwide. Both are Web-based platforms that streamline workflow by delivering advanced review tools and convenient access from on-site or remote PCs or workstations. Carestream’s Vue PACS and Cardiology PACS both support mobile viewing of images and reports on iPads.

Carestream’s Vue RIS is one of the first RIS platforms to be certified both as an EHR and as an EHR module. It meets Stage 1 meaningful use requirements for hospitals, imaging centers, radiologists, and other professionals. Vue RIS delivers embedded voice recognition, critical results reporting, centralized patient scheduling and management reports that track patient referrals by physician and modality reading by each radiologist.
