Spire Healthcare, UK, Implements Zero-Footprint Vue Motion Viewer

Spire Consultants Gain Convenient On-Demand Access To Imaging Data And Patient Information Anytime, Anywhere.

GENEVA, Switz., April 2―Spire Healthcare, a leading provider of private healthcare in the UK, has implemented Carestream’s Vue Motion zero-footprint viewer to enable its clinicians to view patient images on mobile devices such as iPads and other android devices. As this independent viewer is PACS-agnostic, clinicians across Spire can securely view PACS images from all 37 locations; 27 sites with CARESTREAM Vue RIS/PACS and 10 sites with PACS from another provider.

Spire is renowned for its use of advanced technology and this latest move is designed to give Spire clinicians access to imaging data and reports, both current and historical, irrespective of time and location. For example they can show images to patients at the bedside or on the way to theatre and also access images easily from home or another clinic via a secure internet connection and a single log-in.

“Since the beginning of the year, 20 of our consultants have been trialling the system at a number of pilot hospitals. Feedback has been very encouraging and we have started full roll-out across the entire Spire network,” said John Hill, PACS Manager for Spire Healthcare. “As a result of this new technology our consultants can see reports faster and learn of a diagnosis quicker as access to patient results is no longer tethered to a workstation within their consulting room. This will improve workflow and in some cases eliminate the need for the patient to return to the clinic for follow-up.”

Since the independent Vue Motion viewer can be integrated with other vendors’ PACS systems, DICOM archives or XDS repositories, clinicians and referring physicians gain much faster and easier access to radiology images stored in various locations throughout a healthcare system. The zero-footprint Vue Motion also eliminates the need to download software for data or image viewing. The viewer can also be embedded in a HIS or EMR portal to enable authorised users across the enterprise to quickly and easily view patient data and images with a single log-in.

“Our Vue Motion viewer is a liberating technology that sets new benchmarks for performance and user convenience,” said Saskia Groeneveld, Regional Marketing Manager Europe, Healthcare Information Solutions. “Vue Motion is easy to deploy and supports fast access to images and reports on mobile devices, which is ideal for physicians who need to view radiology information on the go. As a zero-footprint viewer, there is no need to download any additional software due to there being no storage or technology prerequisites.”
