GENEVA, Switz. Jan. 26 — Carestream has been awarded the ATARP Best Company Award by the Portuguese Association of Technical Radiotherapy, Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (ATARP). The award was presented at the 15th ATARP National Congress held in Marinha Grande, Leiria in Portugal.
ATARP works to contribute to the improvement of healthcare in Portugal, and promotes professional development in an area of rapid scientific and technological developments. Accepting the award Mario Garcia, Sales Manager for Carestream Health Portugal said: ‘the ATARP Best Company Award reflects the efforts made by Carestream not only in the research and development of innovative products and solutions for current and future market trends, but also by specifically meeting the needs of our customers during a difficult year. Despite demanding economic conditions and against strong competition, we were successful in a number of major projects in both the public and private healthcare sectors.’
‘In the public sector we won projects such as the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO) in Lisbon, the Centro Hospitalar das Caldas da Rainha (CHON), the Hospital de Santarém, the Hospital Curry Cabral and the Centro Hospitalar de Setubal. These installations involved digital capture equipment including our DRX wireless digital radiology systems and our PACS healthcare information solution.’
‘Although private healthcare investment in Portugal is currently at a very low ebb, there are still some groups and private clinics that continue to invest, such as the Fernando Sancho Clinic who recently bought a Carestream DRX system.’
Looking forward, Mario Garcia sees Carestream Vue Cloud Services as showing the way forward. ‘Imagine Portugal being completely interconnected,’ he said. ‘If a patient moves from Bragança to Faro, there is no problem; the doctor in Faro accesses the information from Bragança. This solution allows for unification of patient data into a single file. Carestream currently has similar projects deployed around the globe, and we already have several hospitals with multi-site solutions in Portugal. This gives us confidence in facing the difficult challenges ahead, when the prime objective of all healthcare facilities, both public and private, will be to maximise their resources most effectively.’
