100th order for a CARESTREAM DRX-1 From Guy’s and St. Thomas’

The 100th order for a CARESTREAM DRX-1 wireless detector in the UK and Ireland has been received from the Radiology Department at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals in London.

The lightweight DRX-1, the world’s first cassette-sized wireless DR detector, is an addition to the hospitals’ existing CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution system which is located across the two hospitals and replaced the existing CR machines.

Head of Radiology Services at Guy’s and St. Thomas’, Kim Robertson said: ‘The DRX-1 will be a welcome addition to our existing DR footprint. When we first installed the DRX-Evolution it was the only viable wireless detector for us. It offered us complete flexibility in both A&E and in an existing X-ray room. It also allowed us to deliver ED from a mobile x-ray system’

The DRX-1 wireless cassette slides easily into existing tables or wall-stand buckys, and can be used like a conventional cassette for tabletop projections.

‘It certainly improved image quality against our earlier CR machines’, said Kim, ‘and the interface gives us good, clear communication. It’s a very new system but our radiographers find it easy to use.’

Located near Waterloo and London Bridge, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Clinical Imaging Service is one of the largest medical imaging facilities in the UK, performing over 290,000 investigations per year.
