Carestream Health Adds New Features to DRX-Evolution System

DR Suite Will Support Innovative Tube and Line Imaging, Long-Length Exams

WASHINGTON, D.C., Aug. 22 — Carestream Health today announced that its CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution System will begin supporting tube and line visualization and long-length imaging in September. The company’s innovative visualization feature creates a companion image from the original exposure that enhances the visibility of tubes and lines used in the treatment of seriously ill or injured patients. Adding long-length imaging will allow the automated DR suite to support a variety of orthopedic, spine and other exams.

The company also introduced a new version of software for its CARESTREAM DRX-1 family of systems, which includes the CARESTREAM DRX-1 System, CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution and CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kit. This software will offer an extended exposure mode (up to three seconds) that can be helpful when imaging obese patients as well as for cross-table and mobile exams. In addition, the detector’s orientation will be displayed on the user interface. Images can automatically be rotated according to customer preferences to save time and enhance reading efficiency. The company’s tube and line visualization feature will also be available on all three DRX-1-based systems. The new software will begin shipping in September and will be available to existing customers as an upgrade.

“We are adding new capabilities to the DRX-Evolution and making advanced features available across our product family to further enhance user productivity and ease of use,” said Eileen Heizyk, Worldwide Marketing Manager, Digital Capture Solutions, Carestream Health. “All of these features were developed in response to feedback from our users and to address the ever-growing need for greater efficiency and streamlined workflow in imaging applications.”
The DRX-1 system allows healthcare facilities to quickly and cost effectively upgrade existing rooms to DR technology by employing the wireless, cassette-size DRX-1 detector instead of a film or CR cassette. The DRX-Mobile retrofit kit equips healthcare providers to upgrade selected mobile x-ray systems to wireless DRX-1 technology, while the DRX-Evolution is a fully automated DR suite that delivers rapid patient throughput with wireless DRX-1 detectors that provide the ultimate in positioning flexibility.
