Carestream’s manufacturing plant in Windsor, Colo., earned a Colorado Industrial Energy Efficiency award from the Colorado Energy Office. In the past two years, Carestream Colorado has reduced energy consumption by 5.4 percent at the Windsor manufacturing facility. Our company’s goal is to achieve an additional 5 percent reduction in energy use from 2015 to 2020.

High-precision, roll-to-roll nanoparticle solution coating is an efficient, cost-effective approach for incorporating nanoparticles into products. Successful nanoparticle solution coating requires an understanding of the geometry and scale of nanoparticles, as well as how they behave in a coating environment. We apply our proven process knowledge, experience and quality-driven practices to solve the unique challenges of nanoparticle coatings.

Earlier this year, Carestream celebrated the 10-year anniversary of our Contract Manufacturing business unit. The entity that began as a center of excellence for providing coating capacity to customers has grown into one of the largest segments in Carestream’s film business unit. Since 2007, Carestream Contract Manufacturing has secured several large multi-year contracts and expanded partnerships across a variety of industries.

Transparent conductive films for touch screen applications using silver nanowire electrodes have been widely researched over the past few years. Silver nanowires are considered especially promising as transparent conductive film electrodes because silver has the highest conductivity of any metal. Films comprised of silver nanowires can also be mechanically flexible and possess attractive optical properties such as low haze and high transparency.

Precision, custom-coated films play a critical role in many common applications, including the development of medical and pharmaceutical products. Creating high-quality functional films involves numerous complex variables and stringent quality guidelines, which require proper metrics and film quality inspection methods. Contract manufacturers with established coating processes and experience with the unique demands of medical/pharmaceutical applications are helping to bring a wide range of new and improved products to the healthcare industry.
