Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you seeking ultrasound scanning models?

Carestream is developing a family of ultrasound imaging systems. Ultrasound is a safe diagnostic imaging test that uses sound waves to image the body without x-rays. The purpose of the scan is to collect ultrasound images to be used for product development and marketing/education collateral.

How will I be compensated?

If selected, you will receive compensation for your time. The compensation will depend on the type of scan in the range of $25-$100 per hour. Travel expenses are not reimbursed.

How do I sign up?

If interested, please contact Marylou Prince, Phone: 585-627-6711, Email: marylou.prince@carestream.com, and let them know of your scan interest, any pre-existing conditions, and availability. If Carestream needs your services you will be contacted for a specific appointment. Once the scan is complete you will receive payment in about 1-4 weeks from the session.

What can I expect during the session?

The scan session is very private and will occur in a room much like a doctor’s office exam room.  A clinically certified  sonographer will perform the exam. The sonographer will apply a gel on your skin and glide an ultrasound transducer across the surface to obtain the image. The scan session will last approximately 1-2 hours.

If I am pregnant what can I expect from the OB scan?

We are interested in women of different gestational ages, between 6 and 36 weeks. We ask that you provide a note of permission from your physician. You may eat and drink normally prior to the exam. Videotaping is not available.

What can I expect if I schedule a prostate exam?

The scan session is very private and will occur in a room much like a doctor’s office exam room. You will be completely covered during the exam. Further information can be provided when the appointment is scheduled

Are their risks?

There are no significant risks or side effects with an ultrasound exam. The system the sonographer will use is FDA approved.

Will any information be shared with my doctor or others?

The only information Carestream will have is what you provide. All images remain de-identified. No information will be shared directly between Carestream and your doctor or anyone else.

What if you find something wrong during the scan?

The scan is non-diagnostic, however if the sonographer identifies any incidental findings that are of concern, they will notify you and recommend that you follow-up with your physician.
