Radiology Services Inc. Installs Carestream Q-Rad Digital Radiography Systems at Lowell General Hospital

ROCHESTER, N.Y., April 9 — Radiology Services Inc. (RSI) of Topsfield, Mass., has installed five CARESTREAM Q-Rad X-ray Systems at Lowell General Hospital (Lowell, Mass.). The digital radiography systems are located at two outpatient facilities and three urgent care centers as part of a planned medical equipment upgrade. RSI is one of Carestream's valued business partners in New England.

Lowell General Hospital (Lowell, Mass.)The ceiling-mounted digital X-ray systems can perform chest, abdomen, joint, head, spine and extremity exams. Hospital staff members also can capture long-length, cross-table and other complex studies for patients of all ages.

“The Q-Rad systems provide excellent image quality and use less radiation,” said Judy Canal, Director of Imaging Services for Lowell General Hospital. “They also offer an elevating float top table that supports 650-pound patients and descends to 21.6 inches to allow easier access for patients who are in wheelchairs or have mobility issues.”

Radiology staff members evaluated DR systems from three major suppliers and went on a site visit to see a hands-on demonstration of system controls and overall ease of use prior to selecting the Q-Rad systems.

“Standardizing on a diagnostic imaging platform helps maximize productivity and makes it easier for radiographers to work at other locations when needed,” added Mickey Martinez, Imaging Services Manager for Lowell General Hospital.

Carestream Q-Rad systems offer TechVision™ with an intuitive color touch display that enables technologists to view and edit technique parameters on the tubehead, allowing them to remain close to patients during exams. Wireless or wired DR options are available in either ceiling or floor-mounted configurations. All systems provide advanced operational and ergonomic features, with flexible positioning capabilities.

Each Carestream Q-Rad system is equipped with a CARESTREAM DRX Plus 3543 cesium iodide detector designed for durable, high-resolution imaging.

The hospital’s network includes 12 locations that provide patient care.
