ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 6 — Carestream representatives will describe the benefits of its CARESTREAM OnSight 3D Extremity System that uses cone beam CT (CBCT) technology to capture high-quality, low-dose 3D exams at the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society conference that begins on July 20. This affordable, compact CBCT system is pending FDA 510(k) clearance.
Orthopaedics is a major area of focus for Carestream because of the prevalence of musculoskeletal conditions among people of all ages. Carestream’s CBCT scanner has the potential to become a non-invasive tool to evaluate a host of orthopaedic conditions—such as arthritis, meniscus loss and instability—that affect the biomechanical behavior of feet, ankles and other joints.
Showing patients a 3D image that illustrates their condition or injury can help them understand the reason for a treatment or surgical procedure. Capturing 3D and weight-bearing images also can be a competitive advantage for an orthopaedic practice.
