ROCHESTER, NY, Feb. 26 — Carestream, a world-leading provider of medical imaging systems, non-destructive testing solutions, and precision contract coating services, has taken the difficult decision to transfer production operations and close our facility in Windsor, Colorado located at 2000 Howard Smith Avenue, West Windsor, CO, 80550. The Company today issued a WARN notice to the State of Colorado, local officials, and the employees included in the first round of exits.
This decision is the result of reduced production volumes in some operations, opportunities to streamline shipment between sites, and the high cost of the site infrastructure. Andrew J. Mathews, Sr. Vice President of Operations said, “the Colorado site has reliably produced high quality products for decades. Our people have been dedicated and loyal employees of the Company who demonstrate great pride in their work. It is important to emphasize that this decision is purely an economic decision, not one regarding the performance of the site.”
Carestream's highest priority has been preparing our employees, customers, vendors, and business partners with as much information, advance notice, and support as possible. Site leaders began communicating to site staff in mid-November of 2023 the likely closure of the site in 2024. The WARN notice is the result of now having end dates for many of the impacted employees. Carestream currently employs 236 at this facility, some of whom will remain with the Company. Impacted Carestream employees are being supported with workshops and assistance in preparing for their job search, and later with severance and further transition benefits upon their end date.
